I was waiting for more of the development of the lost child story, which was just a tease for everything else that happened in this woman's life. Flees persecution of Russian Jews in Russia, comes to NY, becomes a mistress (odd father and gay son combination), discovers that her 4 year old is still alive in Russia/Siberia and spends the rest of the book trying to get to her and having a lot of sex along the way. A very improbable story.
